Beltane Coronation

Friday May 3rd, 2024 to Sunday May 5th, 2024
Red Bluff, California

Springs blooms bring good news! Western Heirs have been secured and it is time for us to celebrate! Please join Their Majesties, Sigifrith and Sof’ia, as the West is passed into the next capable hands.

Beltane Coronation will take place in Camp Discovery Campground in the Red Bluff Recreational Area. There are flush stone privies, covered eating areas, as well as CABINS! Eight screened cabins that contain eight bunks. These may be reserved by groups. Please message the event steward for reservations.

PLEASE BE AWARE! This campground is separated from the Sacramento River by a parking lot we will be using. Please keep close tabs on animals and children at all times.

RV Campers, there's no boondocking available for RVs or trailers. There is an RV park next door to the site with electricity and water, and it's a short walk from there to site.

Shepherd's wagons and SCA converted wagons will be allowed to park along the grass depending on numbers and availability for handicap parking.

West Bardic Competition:
On Saturday evening of Beltane Coronation it is traditional to hold the competition for the Bard of the West. Please come to compete, to audit (perform for one or all categories without trying to win) or to be audience!
The categories are the traditional ones, with the Bard’s Choice category being a specific theme chosen by the current Bard of the West.
1. A period piece or a piece in a period style.
2. Bard’s Choice: Praise a group of people who don’t often have a piece written for them. Use a metaphor for that group. For example - for archers, use an arrow metaphor.
3. Piece written on site. The word or phrase for this will be given out in morning court on Saturday of Beltane.
4. Masterwork - whatever you want to use to showcase your skills.
