Southern Shores Newcomer's Tournament

Newcomers of the lifeblood of our society and this event is designed to welcome and honor them.

The Newcomers Tournament is open to heavy fighters who have been fighting 2 years or less, and will take place in the morning. There will be one tournament for fighters who have been fighting a year or less and then a tournament for those fighting two years or less. Prizes will be given to the Champions!
The Warlord Tournament is open to any heavy fighters, and will take place in the afternoon. The Champion will receive the title of Warlord of Southern Shores along with some spiffy regalia and a prize!
In addition to the heavy fighting tournaments, we will also have a Prize Tournament for Rapier Fighters! This tournament is open to rapier fighters of any experience level, and a prize will be awarded to the Champion.

There will also be a variety of Arts and Sciences displays and discussions.
We hope to announce arts and sciences competitions for newcomers. Please see the event Facebook page.

No site fee (but donations are welcome)! So, if you have friends who want to know what the SCA is all about-- bring them! If you just want to spend a day in the park with friends-- bring yourself! Hope to see you there!
Parking is limited to street parking. Please carpool if possible. Dogs are allowed on leash. "Sport equipment only", no dangerous implements.

Additional Comments: Public drinking fountain available at the playground on the opposite and of the park. Picnic tables are first come first serve we anticipate having two to three areas of picnic tables for classes and demonstrations.

From the East Bay: Take 880 South to San Jose. Take the Stevens Creek Blvd. exit # C1. Turn left on Stevens Creek, cross over the highway, and turn right on MacArthur. MacArthur ends at Moorpark. Turn right onto Moorpark. Turn left at South Baywood. Baywood ends at Williams. Street parking on Williams will be the closest to the part of the park where we will be.
From the Peninsula: Take 280 South to San Jose. Take the exit 6 to Winchester Blvd. Turn right onto Winchester. Turn left at Williams. Street parking on Williams will be the closest to the part of the park where we will be.
From the South: Take your best route to Hwy 280 North in San Jose. Take the Leigh Ave/Bascom Ave exit #5. Take Parkmor to Bascome and turn left on Bascom. As soon as you cross over the highway turn right onto Moorpark. Turn left at South Baywood. Baywood ends at Williams. Street parking on Williams will be the closest to the part of the park where we will be.
